Happy New Year

JANUARY NEWSLETTER 2010

Hi Ladies

A very warm welcome to you all? Many thanks for the kind Xmas cards and new year wishes. I wish to say a big welcome to new members who have joined within the last few weeks, it's great to have you on board and hope to see you on some of the events throughout the year.

So how was your holidays? I hope you were able to relax and reflect positively on the year that was and the year that will follow. I enjoyed my holidays and totally switched off and enjoyed the solace around me.

I received some very nice comments, with regards to the December's newsletter on keeping an eye on close friends and family during the holidays. Sometimes we become so caught up in our every day lives, we unwillingly forgot the emotional state of others.

January's quote of the month, an ideal start to the year of new beginnings. When was the last time you did a 360 appraisal on your life? Good question don't you think? Who knows you might be able to make changes for the better and ultimately what is beneficial for you.

I've joined a book club Afro caribean Book Club so I've been enjoying one of my favourite past times including a glass of red wine and reading two beautiful books, The Help by Katherine Stockett and Island Song by Alex Wheatle, both beautifully written books and a pleasure to read. In fact I've decided to invest in a Sony e reader as my living space is looking more and more like a jumbled up library. Reading is a healing and mind expanding experience.

So 3 more weeks then I'm off to Brazil for a month, I can't wait and will really be exploring my favourite country, I will be going starting in Rio then off to Salvador de Bahia for the legendary Brazilian carnival. Look out for my new travel website very soon.

Thanks for your support in the next Marrakesh trip in April. It will be a fun trip. Remember to add itsasistathing.com as a fan on facebook

So ladies whatever your dreams and aspirations for 2010 are, I sincerely hope you will find creativity, strength and inspiration in your new discovery.

Live your life like it's golden.

December's Newsletter

IT'S A SISTA THING

NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2009

NEWSLETTER

QUOTE OF THE MONTH

“Serenity is an acceptance of who we are and being who we are”

Welcome ladies, to your December’s Newsletter yippee the last one for the year, would you believe it, the forum’s 3rd Christmas. A very warm welcome to new sista’s who have joined itsasistathing. I hope to see you on some of the exciting events in the New Year.

Firstly you may recall a lady called Gerda who updates my website, well unfortunately she is not well and will not be able to assist me for a while; we wish you a speedy recovery. The New Year will also see a newly vamped website, where more frequent messages and pictures will be available.

Well there’s a feeling in the air; that we all can’t wait for the chill out zone, the end of the year brings. After an uncertain year for so many of us, the holidays is going to be an opportunity to let our hair down, and possibly switch off. Would you believe it, I haven’t even taken the Xmas tree out of storage, or even attempted to add any festival Xmas cheer in the home. So maybe a dreaded task for the weekend, and shopping for gifts hasn’t even entered my mind yet, the sound of online shopping from my home sounds more tempting, than battling with those maddening crowds, where no doubt I’ll overspend and buy rubbish.

However this should be a time when we should care less about the material items, but instead use this time to ensure that friends and family are well, not just their physical being, but more importantly, keeping an eye on their emotional and mental being. This is a time when vulnerability is apparent, and is a time that the fantastic Samaritans in particular, receive calls from individuals who can’t cope and are over-whelmed with too much to do and to little time.

So take some time to check out friends or family you have not heard for a while, and you feel they need that extra love and attention. I’m sure this will give you a positive feeling, and trigger the release of your endorphins in your brain, and no doubt give them a surge of energy. This is a wonderful time to be alive; there have never been more possibilities and opportunities for us to achieve more of our goals than exist today. Many people confuse activity with accomplishment.

A great response to the proposed planned Marrakesh trip in April, remember I will need your deposits by the 12 January, to confirm the flights on Royal Air Maroc. Email me for my address to send any cheques or if you require my bank details. I will get the details out with regards to the Cape Town trip in the New Year. Cape Town will be in November and I will start the payment plan for that trip in January, so that it will ease the financial burden.

Well ladies, whatever you are doing over the Xmas holidays, enjoy and be merry and see most of you in the New Year.

Ok continue to live your life like it’s golden

Hey from Hollaand

Hi Ladies

Greetings from a very wet Holland.  Hope you are all well?

I can't believe it's been so long since I wrote on the last blog.  I'm still getting to grips with writing on the blog.  I really do not know where the time goes?  I was just thinking that this time last year I was planning to spend my birthday in the sin city of Las Vegas.  I remember the incredible heat, not being able to stand the temperatures in the 100's, although looking at the weather today I would swap these rain showers for those scorching temperatures anytime. I was hoping to have a little birthday drink up at my house this week, I will arrange something small when I get back.  I've just returned from a  bike ride to the colourful market in Rotterdam.  I've still got to check out the hotel prices for the Rotterdam Summer Carnival for May 2009, as I'm aware that most of the hotels are already booking up.     Most of you would have received the email that August newsletter has now been posted on the website, I hope you will enjoy reading especially the new links "Sista's 4 Humanity" .  Thanks for your emails and feedback.  I thought August would be a great month to organise events for the ladies & their families but it seems it's the worst month to organise anything, as most people are on holiday.

I hope that more of you maybe interested in the Dating Night Out, Date TBA, so keep the email's coming showing your interest.  I believe this would be a fun night out, but can only be a success with all your participation.

Ok off now to fry some fish which has been caught today.

Tot Ziens ( see you later in dutch)
